Ghosts in the family
Ghosts in the Family is a writing workshop co-hosted by Toni Brell and Amy Suo Wu (Design Sandberg). Stories play a role in affecting our own identities, kinships, and the communities and societies we're embedded within. This workshop will be centred around the role of storytelling and fiction from queer, feminist and diaspora perspectives alongside each other. Toni will be exploring ways to challenge and disrupt hegemonic narratives as potential gestures to create alternative realities, while Amy will approach fiction and storytelling as tools for immersion and empathy in the mending of intergenerational and diasporic divides. A variety of collective and individual writing methods will be practiced to conjure up and exorcise ghosts in the family. The workshop will take place at Sandberg Instituut with max. 10 participants. Students can sign up via the link attached.

The research fellowship project is an initiative of the Rietveld Academie and Sandberg Instituut for artists, designers, theorists and other makers. It aims to facilitate and support short term artistic research projects, in collaboration with one of the departments of the schools. During their fellowship, the researchers share their process and findings with students and the Gerrit Rietveld community at large. The Fellows-in-Process series aims to aid this interaction, while engendering meaningful conversations between the fellows, students and teachers of both institutes. To that end, events are open to Rietveld and Sandberg students and teachers.

note: Additional to the zoom rooms all online events will be live streamed via youtube channel ‘Research at Rietveld and Sandberg’
