Rietveld Sandberg Research
Rietveld Sandberg Research is pleased to announce an open call for expressions of interest to embark on a new iteration of the Creator Doctus trajectory (CrD). The CrD program is an opportunity for a mid-career practitioner working at the intersections of art, design, and research to develop a rigorous and innovative practice-based research trajectory. This third iteration of the CrD trajectory will sit within the framework of the Professional Doctorate (PD) Pilot.
The CrD/PD trajectory emphasizes artistic creation as both a method and outcome of research, integrating creative exploration with interdisciplinary approaches. Unlike traditional PhD programs, the CrD/PD offers an alternative pathway for artists and designers, where the outcome is a significant artistic contribution such as an artwork, exhibition, or performance or combination of these accompanied by a reflective and contextual report instead of a written dissertation. This practice-based model is designed to advance knowledge, foster experimental methodologies, and create impactful contributions across artistic, academic, and professional contexts.
What the CrD/PD program offers
The CrD/PD trajectory is structured to support participants in producing significant artistic contributions. The selected candidate will take part in a highly dynamic and reflective 4-year trajectory that includes regular evaluations, interdisciplinary engagement within Rietveld/Sandberg and externally, teaching opportunities and public dissemination of their work.

Contract: 0.6fte - 1fte position for 4 years depending on the proposed research trajectory of the selected candidate.

Collaborative opportunities: Partnerships with cultural institutions, academic networks, and industry professionals.

Mentorship/supervision: Tailored guidance from an interdisciplinary team of artists, researchers, professionals and academics.

Milestones: Annual reviews with a multidisciplinary committee to evaluate progress, including a written report reflecting on achievements and challenges.
